September is Neonatal Intensive Care Awareness Month #NICUAwarenessMonth when people from around the world come together to show their support for families with babies in the neonatal unit. The aim is to honour families experiencing a stay in neonatal care, and those in the medical profession who care for them.
My daughter spent 3 months in neonatal intensive care across 3 different units after she was born 15 weeks early in 2019. They were the toughest months of our lives, every day wondering what kind of complication our tiny baby would suffer next, every day fearing she wouldn’t survive to see tomorrow.
1 in 7 babies is admitted to neonatal care in the UK, totalling over 100,000 babies a year, some of which will need intensive care. That’s 100,000 families going through the most stressful, painful and confusing time of their lives every year.

With your permission I would like to get this this into our local weekly rag which is very interested in stories like this and they printed an article for me last year about prematurity. People are going to wonder just what they could do to spread awareness and I’m wondering if you could add add contact details so they can ask for ideas. Thank you for spreading awareness yourself.
